For many advanced private 5G applications where low latency and “snappy” application response is a key driver, MEC is seen as a critical infrastructure element not only to handle data processing locally but also to provide an infrastructure point of presence to public cloud services and to run wireless connectivity functions where they are driven by a telco/mobile operator by a hyperscale cloud provider, or directly by an enterprise.
